I endorse Mitt Romney for President of the United States of America
and why I plead with you to also vote for him

The 2012 election is so much more than Republican vs Democrat, or Liberal vs Conservative.  I will not go as far as to say good vs evil because I genuinely believe that the democratic party somewhere does have some good people in it that mean well or some that just do not know what the party stands for.  First of all, I believe ALL politicians, are corruptible.  This is not party specific.  If you are finding yourself in the position that you feel you are voting for the better of two evils well guess what?  You basically are.  Mitt Romney was not my first choice for President.  Mitt Romney was not my favorite candidate.  Mitt Romney was not the person I thought I would be getting behind to support for President.

Honestly, Mitt Romney was anything but the ideal candidate in my mind.  I have not gotten involved in the Republican political scene for this reason.  If I came out in support of another candidate, then endorse Mitt Romney when my candidate is no longer running, I look like a liar or someone that does not stick to principles.  The fact of the matter is, I was going to endorse the Republican candidate no matter who it was.  If it was Newt Gingrich, I would have endorsed him.  Ron Paul, I would have endorsed him, Herman Cain, I would have endorsed him.  And Mitt Romney, I endorse him.  More than reluctantly endorsing him, I whole heartedly throw my support behind him because the alternative is so much worse.  He is the best candidate and I believe I have to vote for him as an American, as a Christian, and as a Father who cares about the future of this country.

Now you may say that you want to vote for a third party candidate because you have to vote your convictions.  I do understand that position however, right or wrong, we basically have a two party system.  Like it or not, Barack Obama or Mitt Romney WILL be President of the United States of America in January.  No matter what third party candidate you choose to vote for, one of these two men will be the President.  A vote for anyone other than Mitt Romney is a vote FOR Barack Obama.

For those of my friends that believe in Jesus and the teaching in the Bible lets tackle two main points.

Abortion:  The Bible is clear about murder.

Democratic platform:  The Democratic platform states that the party “unequivocally” supports Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that affirmed a constitutional right to an abortion. The platform also “supports a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay.” *

Republican Platform:  The Republican Party platform opposes abortion in all cases, including rape, incest and when the life of the mother is endangered. Republicans say “the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. It opposes using taxpayer money to promote or perform abortions or to fund organizations that perform or advocate abortion rights.” *

Gay Marriage:  The Bible makes it very clear that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Democratic Platform:  “The Democratic platform supports the movement to get equal treatment under the law for same-sex couples. The platform says: “We also support the freedom of churches and religious entities to decide how to administer marriage as a religious sacrament without government interference.” The platform opposes “federal and state constitutional amendments and other attempts to deny equal protection under the law” to same-sex couples.” *

Republican Platform:  “The Republican Party platform affirms the rights of states and the federal government not to recognize same-sex marriage. It backs a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.” *

You have the right in this Country to call me a bigot, you have the right to think this is hate speech, all of that is your RIGHT.  It is also my right to have an opinion and it is my right to voice that opinion.  These are not my rules.  I did not make them nor did I write them.  God has written these rules in the Bible.  Now you can choose to not believe the Bible and that is your right but if you are a Christian, I do not see how on basic principle alone, you can vote for a democratic candidate.  This statement does not mean that the Republican candidate is perfect or not at fault.  We are all human and I propose no candidate would be 100% acceptable unless he was God himself.  So while Mitt Romney may have faults, so does ANY candidate that you think your conscience would rather you vote for.

Aside from the Biblical reasons, let’s look at practical reasons.  This Country is in debt to the tune of $16,000,000,000,000.00  That’s twelve zeros.  “The United States Treasury reports that the total public outstanding debt is: $16,015,769,788,215.80. This is the first time in American history debt has eclipsed the $16 trillion mark.  The debt has increased approximately $5.4 trillion since President Obama took office on January 20, 2009.  In the last 4 years, the debt increased by more than it did in the previous 17 years.” *

Barack Obama if elected will unleash many things that he will push through to become law when he will not have to worry about getting re-elected.  Fellow Americans, we are broke.  We cannot afford more Government spending.  As a Republican do I want people on the streets?  Do I want children not to be able to get healthcare?  Do I want old people to die and not get Medicaid?  Absolutely emphatically not.  Democrats believe, and I do believe they genuinely care about people, but caring about people and forcing everyone to care about people are two different things.  The Bible says it is the Church’s responsibility to take care of widows and orphans not the government’s job.  I have heard a lot of people say we need to have an even playing field and everyone needs the same opportunities.  I understand the argument but no, we do not all get equal opportunities.  I believe some things happen in life because you make them happen.  We were CREATED equal and have equal RIGHTS but that does not mean we all get equal hands dealt to us in life.  We do not all get to go to the same schools; it would be great if we could but that is not how life works.  If you setup a generation that thinks the world is fair, they have a rude awakening when they get to the real world and the professor doesn’t grade the paper the same as he did everyone else’s or colleagues get promoted when they don’t etc.  Life is not fair and it is NOT the government’s job to make sure that it is.

Now on a personal level; I pay taxes for my kids to go to public school.  I am fortunate that I get to send my kids to private school.  Is this fair?  Why do I not get a tax refund for the money I am putting into public schools and not getting the benefit from?  See my point?  Or this as an example.  I got laid off from work.  You know what the first thing I did was?  Make phone calls and start my own business, NOT go get unemployment.  Could I have?  Absolutely.  Was it my right?  Under the law, yes.  Was I able to make something happen for myself and my family?  Yes and that’s what I did.  That is what makes this country great.  We DO all have the same opportunities only people sometimes rely on government programs to take care of them instead of relying on God to be your provision and use the talents he gave you to succeed.  Is this the case for everyone?  No.  Do I personally want to help the single mom that can’t make ends meet?  Absolutely.  That is what unemployment is there for but it is not a crutch to use if you have the resources and ability to get off your butt and make something happen.  We have an apathetic culture to work and to politics and most Christians are just as apathetic.  I urge you, no I plead with you PLEASE vote this election and be an informed voter.  It is because of being an informed voter than I wholeheartedly and emphatically endorse Mitt Romney as President of the United States of America!
